With a new semester at hand, there is much to be earned. A few things have come and gone, and yet there is so much more to learn. I have done much thinking lately, especially since I have spent the majority of the winter break here in College Station working. This past semester was perhaps the worst I have ever done in school, I ended up with a 2.8 for the semester...BLAH!!! But alas, it shall all come to an end. I find it interesting, that as I prepare to set goals for the semester, that they also coincide with making new year's resolutions. Here are just a few of my numerous tasks that I desire to achieve and strive for throughout the semester and the coming year:
1. I want to become cultured. I would like to read on my own more, and not just newer books, but also many of the classics. For instance, I am currently reading Pride and Prejudice. After seeing the film in the theatre just a few days ago, I decided that I would like to read the book as well. I want to become more knowledgeble in art, music, and literature. For example, I would like to start reading poetry, and perhaps strongly increase the amount of writing that I do on my own.
2. I want to finally learn how to play the guitar. I have had one in my possession for a little over a year now and I still can't play to save my life. I would also like to learn over the course of my life to play the piano, violin, and the saxophone.
3. I want to recommit myself to my education. I slacked off rather strongly this past semester. But as I have thought over where I want to go in life, the Lord reminded me that He has given me this precious blessing of education and the oportunities that accompany it. I want to make a 4.0. I know that this goal is very achievable and that I must apply myself vigorously as well as learn to manage my time wisely if I am to do so.
4. I would love to really become involved in my church here in College Station. Within the church there are so many opportunities for ministry and to continuously develop my Christian walk.
5. As many of you know, especially if you are close friends of mine, I love to sing. Music is such a passion of mine, and yet sadly I know nothing about it. I would like to be able to sing somewhere and sing somewhere consistently, other than when I walk to class or am at work.
6. I want to change who I am. I am not at all quite sure how to explain what I mean. However there are just some things about myself that I no longer find to be very desirable. Not to be caught in the trap of cliches, but I guess I want to do a little spring cleaning of myself.
7. Finally, I want to keep up with xanga regularly. So here it begins.
To all of you I wish you the best for this semester and the rest of this year. May you be steadfast in all you do and God Bless. And please do leave me comments, they are very much inspiring and motivational.
